Busy life, numerous demands, no time for yourself, feeling stressed
Try Reflexology
Reflexology is a therapy in which pressure is applied to different parts of the feet, and sometimes the hands, to produce a beneficial effect on the whole body. It is a very relaxing therapy that could help to improve mood, aid sleep, help relieve tension and give a sense of well-being.
Reflexology is a complementary therapy. I have been practising reflexology for 5 years and during that time people have come to me whilst being treated by their doctors or undergoing hospital treatment for various ailments including arthritis, asthma, back pain, high blood pressure, IBS, menstrual problems, Parkinson's Disease, fertility problems and IVF.
At the first treatment I take a detailed health history and discuss any health problems. The client then relaxes in a reclining chair and I begin the therapy by rubbing oil into the feet. Reflexology is given to all areas of both feet and is based on the traditional belief that these areas in the feet correspond to areas of the body. I use my thumb and fingers to apply pressure to the feet. It is not painful but you may feel some tenderness on the foot. It is helpful for me to have this feedback. I will then work on these areas with my thumb or fingers to help relaxation and improve well-being.
A course of reflexology is usually 6 or 8 sessions but clients could feel a benefit after three sessions. After a course of treatments is completed, clients will often return for another session every 4 or 6 weeks.
Reproreflexology
I have completed workshops on Reproductive Reflexology (Reproreflexology) with Barbara Scott of Seren Natural Fertility, Nottingham. I covered a range of specialist techniques to use with clients that Barbara has developed over a 20 year career in reflexology with links to fertility clinics and medical professionals.
At the first treatment I take detailed notes to gather appropriate information and discuss various adjustments to the client's lifestyle that may need to be made. These notes are strictly confidential and will not be disclosed without the client's permission. Reproreflexology techniques are used at the end of the standard treatment and consist of gentle and firm circular and stroking movements to various parts of the feet. Phone or email me for further information or look at the Seren Natural Fertility website
Facial Reflexology
Facial Reflexology is a unique treatment developed from 3 ancient alternative therapies: Chinese Energy Meridians, Facial Acupuncture, Vietnamese and South American Indian body maps on the face. It is a gentle, non-invasive therapy. By stimulating an area or point on the face, it could have an overall relaxing effect.
During treatment the client lies fully clothed on his or her back on a massage couch. I use a little rose oil and cream and start to massage the face with my fingers. There are 7 steps in the treatment and I use different strokes at each stage, slow circular strokes, firm long strokes and fast, short strokes to stimulate various areas and ending the treatment with slow strokes. Clients are usually very relaxed by the second stage and often fall asleep.
Facial Reflexology was developed through many hears of research by Lone Sorensen Lopez, an internationally renown therapist through a 30 year career as a complementary therapist in Denmark and Argentina. Her research and work also took her to Cuba, France, Spain and Germany. More information on Lone's work can be found at www.reflexologiafacial.es
