What happens during treatment?

A reflexology treatment is given to all areas of both feet. Reflex areas in the feet correspond to all areas of the body. It therefore treats the whole body and can help current conditions and symptoms and the causes of symptoms.

Treatment is usually given on the feet, but treatment can also be given on the hands although initially hands are not so responsive to the treatment.

I will use my thumb and fingers to apply pressure to the reflex areas of the foot. It is not a painful treatment but the patient may feel some tenderness on the foot if the related area in the body is out of balance. It is helpful for me to have this feedback. I will then work on these areas to release congestion and restore balance and the free flow of energy to the body.

Treatment usually takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour. At the first treatment I will take a case history and discuss any health problems.

A course of treatment is usually 6 or 8 sessions but patients can feel the benefit after 3 sessions and can find that the problems have disappeared or eased.

Patients will often then return for another treatment every 4 or 6 weeks to keep their body in balance.
